The team behind crisis response at Connections: the individuals who make crisis care possible

Connections Health Solutions Feb 6, 2025

Crisis response requires a specialized, team-based approach to provide immediate, effective care. Connections’ recovery-oriented model is powered by a diverse team of professionals dedicated to stabilizing individuals and guiding them toward recovery. Through their collaboration, individuals in crisis receive the appropriate care at the right time.

Why crisis response requires a team

Behavioral health crises demand personalized, immediate, and compassionate care—a level of support that traditional emergency departments are not designed to provide. Unlike medical emergencies, crisis care addresses mental health complexities while ensuring safety and minimizing unnecessary hospitalizations and law enforcement involvement. A well-coordinated crisis system plays a critical role in preventing overcrowding and unnecessary admissions, with crisis centers providing a safe place for intervention and stabilization.

At Connections, our approach aligns with SAMHSA’s gold-standard model, ensuring that someone in crisis and in need of support has a safe place to go and a team of professionals to help guide them.

Not all crisis facilities operate the same way. Some focus on low-acuity support, offering peer assistance and a safe environment, while others are equipped to treat high-acuity individuals experiencing suicidal thoughts, acute agitation, or substance withdrawal. Ensuring that crisis centers have the right expertise and infrastructure is critical to delivering safe, effective care. To address these complex challenges, a multidisciplinary team becomes essential. Each role within this team is designed to meet the unique needs of individuals in crisis.

The role of a multidisciplinary team

To address the unique needs of individuals in crisis, a multidisciplinary team is essential. At Connections, our diverse team of professionals—ranging from behavioral health specialists to registered nurses—works together to provide integrated, compassionate care from arrival to discharge.

By leveraging this team, Connections delivers person-centered crisis care that prioritizes safety, dignity, and long-term recovery. This holistic, collaborative approach not only addresses immediate needs but also sets individuals on a path toward lasting stability and well-being.
